ENFJ Weaknesses

Although ENFJs have many wonderful skills and strengths that can benefit everyone around them, they also have blind spots that can negatively impact them. If ENFJs don’t learn to manage or overcome potential areas of weakness, their strengths may be overshadowed and their positive impact dampened.

Myers-Briggs ENFJ Weaknesses

Weaknesses that are typically associated with the ENFJ personality type include...

  • Tendency to take things too personally
  • Struggling to listen to their own needs
  • Difficulty making hard choices
  • Trouble dealing with unforeseen issues

ENFJs take feedback personally, at times. Even if it’s delivered with good intent, they may perceive it as overly critical. They care a lot about what others think and are likely to feel disappointed with themselves when they’re critiqued. When they learn to understand the value of honest, but friendly feedback, ENFJs are likely to value and appreciate advice from friends.

They have a difficult time listening to and recognizing their own needs. ENFJs sometimes shut themselves “off” to focus on other people, which may lead them to neglect what they actually want. To prevent this from negatively affecting them, ENFJs should make a conscious effort to set aside time for themselves, so they’re able to take a step back from their responsibilities and practice self-care.

ENFJs have a hard time making up their minds, especially when it comes to major decisions. They tend to be a bit indecisive, since they are able to think up many possibilities and outcomes for each choice. It may be effective for ENFJs to seek outside help and advice from friends and family when they’re making important decisions, so they are able to talk it out with someone they trust.

They tend to seek consistency and organization, so they often have a difficult time adapting to change, especially if it’s unexpected. They will likely need time and support to work through a difficult, unforeseen situation.

When ENFJs make the effort to recognize and overcome their blind spots, they can take steps toward self-improvement. Implementing small changes, one at a time, can lead to major growth and long-term development.
