DISC Assessment

The DISC assessment can help you understand your natural strengths, blindspots, behaviors, and communication styles. DISC is a “four-factor” personality model, meaning that it observes four base behavioral patterns across the population. It was developed in the early 1900s by psychologist William Marston, the same man who created the polygraph and Wonder Woman, and resembles other four-factor models that have been around for more than 2,000 years, since Hippocrates first described the “four temperaments”.

Each pattern in DISC has a set of traits grouped together in this way:

  1. Dominance (D)
  2. Influence (I)
  3. Steadiness (S)
  4. Conscientiousness (C)

Overview of DISC Assessment

D-types are direct, assertive, and decisive. They are intensely competitive and seek personal autonomy. They thrive when pursuing big goals or challenges and tend to prefer action over analysis.

I-types tend to seek fun and excitement. They are confident, engaging and approachable people who thrive in social settings and enjoy getting to know new people. They are always looking to expand their network and social circles and enjoy spending time around others.

S-types are naturally reserved people who seek supportive and consistent relationships. They are sympathetic to others' perspectives and have great active listening skills. They tend to seek comfortable, harmonious, predictable environments.

C-types are extremely analytical; they gravitate towards process, structure, and rules. They tend to also be intensely skeptical. C’s prefer following logic over emotion when trying to make decisions. Though they are generally very consistent and methodical, if the data informs new logic, a C-type is capable of being flexible.
