Crystal

Once, to start your story

Introduce Yourself

Introduce Yourself is where your story starts. A few quick questions about your life right now, where you came from, what matters most to you and where you want to be in ten years, and Crystal writes the Introduction, the first chapter of your story, from your answers and your DISC result.

What it asks

Start your story: Crystal writes its first chapter from your answers, about where you have been and where you are headed.

  • Your name, job title and company, to confirm, and the kind of work you do
  • What life is like right now, professionally and personally, picked from a list
  • What matters most to you, and what you are working on most right now
  • Your life in ten years: what is different
  • Where you live now, where you grew up, and something you are proud of that would not show up on a résumé

A type is not an introduction

Most personality tests start with a type and never get to the person. A type says how you tend to behave. It says nothing about where you grew up, what your weeks look like or what you are trying to change, and those are the facts that make advice specific rather than generic.

An introduction is also the easiest place to begin. Almost every question is a tap or a few words, and anything you would rather not answer can be skipped. The point is a first draft of you, not a complete record.

Starting with the present and ending with the future gives the story its frame. Everything added later, your roots, the people who shaped you, the moments that changed your direction, is read against it.
