Crystal

Whenever something changes

Your Vision

Pick a year and describe your life in it: what the work is, what the days look like, who is around. Your Vision works backward from that picture, which is the opposite direction from the goal assessment and catches different things.

What it asks

What your life looks like in a year you choose, so Crystal knows what you are aiming at.

  • A year, chosen by you rather than set at five
  • What your work looks like then
  • What an ordinary day looks like
  • Who is in it

Backward from a picture, forward from a goal

Goals are answers to a question you have already asked yourself. They are useful and they are also limited: you can only set a goal for something you have already thought of.

Describing a year instead produces things no goal list would, because a day has texture that an objective does not. People describe where they are living, who they see on a Tuesday, what they are no longer doing. Goals come out of that picture afterwards, and they are usually better ones.

It is also the assessment that dates fastest, by design. A snapshot is written because something changed, not because a quarter ended, and every one you write is kept so the changes are visible.

How Crystal asks it

Inside the product.

  • Take it as often as you like. Each one is kept and none overwrite the last.
  • It leaves out the plans and tasks the old Future page built around it, keeping the picture.
  • What you describe here is what the daily and weekly assessments are measured against.
