Career Journey

Career Journey reads your career as a whole rather than a list of jobs. You rate each role on what it was actually like, and Crystal finds the pattern your career makes and the turning points that shaped it.

What it asks

Your career so far, and the shape it makes.

  • Your roles, pasted from a résumé or LinkedIn profile or added one at a time
  • Each role rated on enjoyment, growth, skill fit, culture fit and whether you could have kept it up
  • A few follow-up questions about particular roles, and about your current one
  • Three closing questions: looking back, right now, and what comes next

A résumé records titles. This records what they were like.

A résumé is written for someone else, so it lists what you did and leaves out how it felt. That is exactly the part that predicts what you should do next: the role you enjoyed but could not sustain, the one that grew you and the one that only paid.

Rating every role on the same five questions makes them comparable. Patterns show up that are invisible one job at a time, such as the same kind of culture fit going wrong in three different companies.

Dates matter too. The shape of a career, a steady climb, a leap, a pivot, a portfolio, is a fact about you that is easy to miss from the inside and useful to name.

How Crystal asks it

Inside the product.

  • Three to five minutes, about two if you start from a résumé. Paste text or upload a PDF and confirm the roles Crystal finds.
  • The result names 1 of 12 career patterns, such as the Climber, the Pivoter or the Portfolio, and dates your career chapters.
  • It opens Career Toolkit, Career Direction and Work Style. Taking it is free; the read Crystal writes from it is Premium.
