Whenever you are deciding
Career Direction
Career Direction answers the question most career tests skip: given the career you have actually had, where should you point next? It reads your Career Journey, and your Toolkit if you have one, then asks five questions.
What it asks
Where to point next, read from your Journey and your Toolkit.
- How soon you want something to be different
- What would make the next thing better than this one, and what cannot change
- Two futures three years out: a better version of this, or something of your own
- What is actually in the way
Direction, not a job title
Career tests usually hand you a list of occupations. That is useful at eighteen and much less so at thirty-five, when the real choice is rarely a new field and more often a shift in how you do the one you are in.
Direction is the bigger decision. Deepen where you are, step up, do the same work somewhere else, take the pressure off, start something: each points at different jobs, and picking the job before the direction is how people end up somewhere that looks right and is not.
Reading from your own history rather than a questionnaire alone means the answer comes with evidence you recognise.
